Technology and Standards

Although the robotics technology employed in the various types of commercial, consumer and military robotics systems can differ radically from each other, they typically make use of standards and are often based on shared core technology such as advanced software, sensors, microprocessors, micromechanics and microelectronics. Sessions in the Technology and Standards Track focuses on those products and standards platforms that can be employed in multiple robotic solution sets.

Security, Defense and First Responder Robotics

Robots and robotic technology for military activities, such as tele-operated unmanned ground vehicles for mine and IED clearing, or unmanned aerial vehicles for surveillance and reconnaissance, have found success as force multipliers (with a reduced logistics footprint) while reducing risk to warfighters in the combat zone. As such, robotics will find increase use in the military, as will their security and first responder counterparts. Sessions in the in the Security, Defense and First Responder Robotics track will review such products, as well as describe opportunities in the defense, security and first responder markets.

Consumer Robotics

You have read the articles and seen the televised news items... the robotics industry is on the move and expanding dramatically. Moreover, consumer robotics is expected to be the largest market segment within the overall robotics industry. Consumer Robotics session attendees will learn from industry experts of the many ways their companies can enter into and profit from the emerging consumer robotics market.

RoboMedicus - Healthcare Robotics

An rapidly aging population in many industrial countries, along with a continuing upward spiral in healthcare costs, have healthcare providers scrambling to look for innovative solutions for providing quality healthcare while reducing costs. Advances in robots and robotic technology are providing some answers. Sessions in the RoboMedicus Tracks focuses on the areas where the intersection of technological advancement and demography has resulted in a rapidly expanding market opportunity for healthcare automation, lifestyle enhancement and medical robotics products and services.

Autonomy and Mobility

Although the appearance and capabilities of robots can vary greatly, by definition all robots can sense their environment, move within that environment, and manipulate with objects within it. What differentiates the various types of robots and robotic technologies is the degree of autonomy that they exhibit while sensing, moving and interacting. Sessions in the Achieving Autonomy Track will cover the latest advances in autonomy theory, technology and practice.
